Privacy Policy for Neki

This Privacy Policy explains how Clearwave Systems ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Neki mobile application ("the App"). By using Neki, you agree to the practices described here.

If you do not agree with this policy, please discontinue use of the App.

1. Who We Are

Neki is operated by Clearwave Systems, based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Neki is a personal Islamic discipline tracker that helps users keep up with their five daily prayers (Salah), build streaks, complete spiritual challenges, and earn in-app "Neki" points.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information you provide directly

When you create an account or use the App, we collect:

• Account information — your email address, display name, and (if you sign in with Google or Apple) a profile photo URL provided by the identity provider.
• Profile preferences — your selected primary spiritual goal, challenge duration, and country (used for the country leaderboard).
• Prayer activity — the prayers you mark as completed or skipped, the timestamps of those marks, and your daily streak.
• Challenge progress — challenges you start, complete, or abandon, and rewards earned.
• Support communications — any message you send through the in-app support feature.
• Optional donations — if you make an in-app donation or purchase, we record the transaction ID and product purchased, but we do not store payment card details — those are handled by the App Store / Play Store.

2.2 Information collected automatically

• Approximate device location — when you grant location permission, we use your latitude and longitude to compute accurate Salah times based on your physical position. The raw coordinates remain on your device. We derive only your country and store that on our servers (used to show your position on the country leaderboard).
• Device and technical data — operating system version, app version, device language, time zone, and a Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) token (used to send you optional reminder notifications).
• Usage events — the App may record when notifications are sent or interacted with locally on your device, in order to schedule future reminders correctly. Google Analytics is disabled in this version of the App.

2.3 What we do not collect

We do not collect:

• Payment card numbers or banking details
• Contacts, photos, microphone audio, or camera images
• Browsing history outside the App
• Precise GPS traces over time
• Health data

The App also does not display third-party advertisements.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information described above to:

• Authenticate you and keep your account secure.
• Calculate and display your local prayer times.
• Track and display your prayer history, streak, points, and challenges.
• Send you the notifications you have explicitly enabled (prayer reminders, Dhikr reminders, Quran reminders).
• Show your name, country, and points on leaderboards visible to other authenticated Neki users.
• Process in-app purchases and donations through the App Store or Google Play.
• Respond to your support messages.
• Diagnose technical issues and improve the App.

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or sale to third parties.

4. Sharing and Disclosure

We share your data only with the following service providers, and only to the extent necessary to operate the App:

• Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Cloud Messaging) — account login, data storage, push notifications
• Google Sign-In / Apple Sign-In — optional authentication methods
• Apple App Store / Google Play Billing — in-app purchases & donations

Leaderboard visibility: by signing in, you understand that your display name, country, and total points are visible to other authenticated Neki users in the leaderboard. Your prayer history, personal streak details, and email are never shown to other users.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.

We may disclose information when legally compelled (court order, subpoena) or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Clearwave Systems, our users, or the public.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your account and activity data are stored in Google Firebase, with servers managed by Google. Data may be processed in regions including the United States, Europe, and Asia depending on Firebase's infrastructure.

We use encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest.
Access to backend data is restricted so that a user can only modify their own records.

No system is perfectly secure. While we take reasonable measures, we cannot guarantee absolute security of data transmitted over the internet.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account and activity data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your associated profile, prayer history, points, and challenges within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

Local notification schedules and cached prayer times stored on your device persist until you uninstall the App or clear its data.

7. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate or incomplete information
• Delete your account and associated data
• Export your data
• Restrict or object to certain processing
• Withdraw consent for optional features

To exercise any of these rights:

• Use the "Delete Account" option inside the App (Profile → Settings)

You can also:

• Revoke location access in your device settings
• Disable notifications in your device or app settings
• Sign out at any time

8. Children's Privacy

Neki is intended for users age 13 and older (16+ in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children below these ages. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete the data promptly.

9. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries outside your own. By using the App, you consent to such transfers, subject to applicable safeguards.

10. Third-Party Links and Services

The App may contain links to third-party websites. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those sites. Please review their privacy policies separately.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated policy.
